The Practice Profile is the second step in evaluating the go/no-go decision of purchasing an EHR.  It helps outline both the financial and functional requirements for the practice, as well as providing a rough cost savings estimate on the investment.

The Practice Profile is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet template built in three sections: 

• Practice Profile – identify price, workflow, interface, and specialty requirements for your practice
• Develop a 5-year budget estimate, based on current market pricing, including:  hardware, software, integrations, IT support, implementation, and maintenance
• Calculate the Return-On-Investment (ROI), including break-even analysis and total 5-year savings based on two methodologies for cross-reference
